Our early 2013 events calendar is getting loaded with some not-to-be-missed media conferences and festivals from around the world. We want to share them with you.
Focusing on radio, print and digital publishing as well as technology in the landscape of media they are sure to provide some interesting networking opportunities and engaging educational value.
Sourcefabric will be in attendance and in several cases featured as guest speakers. We hope to catch you while we're there!
1. FOSDEM 2013
February 2-3, 2013 Brussels, Belgium
The Free and Open source Software Developers' European Meeting (FOSDEM) is a two-day event organized by volunteers to promote the widespread use of Free and Open Source software. FOSDEM offers open source communities a place to meet, share ideas and collaborate. It is renowned for being highly developer-oriented and brings together 5000+ geeks from all over the world.
February 12-14, 2012 New York, NY
Since 2007, the O'Reilly Tools of Change for Publishing Conference has engaged with the challenges and opportunities of new publishing technologies. They bring people from related publishing industries and innovation together to discuss new business models and explore the goals of an ever-changing industry.
On the plate this year is Sourcefabric's Fabienne Riener and Adam Hyde, who will present Book Sprints: Zero to Book in 5 Days.

Every February 13 is declared World Radio Day. The celebration was started by UNESCO in recognition of the day the United Nations created UN Radio in 1946. Its goal is to raise awareness in the general public and media on the value of radio, and encourage decision-makers to create and provide access to information through radio. Taking place in various pop-up locations around the world anyone can participate and share their love of radio.
Sourcefabric will host several meetups in various cities bringing together local interest and support for radio. Stay tuned for details about how Sourcefabric plans to celebrate the day all over the world!
March 17-19, 2013, Berlin, Germany
Radio Days Europe is a central meeting point for European Radio. The conference brings together interests from both public and private radio and will be held in Berlin in 2013. The conference engages conversation about issues in programming, formats, audience behavior, digital platforms and business models for the future of radio. Since 2010 the conference has been gaining momentum as it travels to a difference European city every year.
March 4-7, 2013, Austin, Texas
Teachers, administrators, university professors, business and policy leaders will converge at SXSWedu to connect, collaborate, create and change how we teach and how we learn. Hosted alongside the world-renowned festival, South By South West, SXSWedu takes place annually in Austin, Texas.

news rew:ired is a one-day digital journalism conference brought to you by Journalism.co.uk. The event will host some of the top trends and new tools and techniques used in digital journalism in 2013. The event takes place in London annually and brings some of the most exciting emerging minds from digital journalism to the fore.
April 24-28, 2013 Perugia, Italy
The annual Perugia International Journalism Festival is the leading journalism event in Italy. It is an open invitation to listen and network with the best of the journalism world. The atmosphere emphasises informality and accessibility. It is designed to appeal to journalists, aspiring journalists and those interested in the role of the media in society.
As last years winners of the Future 12 Award, Sourcefabric has been invited back to attend the 2013 edition of the festival.

For the past seven years, it has been re:publica's goal to be a "broker" between the online and offline worlds, breaking down barriers and defining what connects the digital and analogue societies. The conference which takes place in Berlin for the seventh year focuses on the culture surrounding blogs, social media, and the digital society.

GEN, Global Editors Network, News Summit 2013 takes on a big topic this year. 13. Mozilla Festival
November 9-11, 2013 London, UK
The Mozilla Festival draws together people who are interested in learning about but also playing with the future of the web. It's a hotbed of activity where the interest in the possibilities of the web come together. They focus on sharing skills and expertise between groups and finding synergy for new web-based ideas. Hosted in London, the festival spans nine floors, combining maker labs with impromptu classrooms and bleeding-edge tech.
