Heading back to Sourcecamp
Next week the Sourcefabric team will all be in Serbia for our annual retreat, Sourcecamp. It’s part team-building, part hackathon, part general meeting. And sometimes makes us a little slow in getting back to you, so if we don’t answer your email right away next week, Sourcecamp is why.
Since the the inaugural Sourcecamp event in 2010, we have been bringing together all Sourcefabric employees from across the globe to brainstorm, discuss, develop, and learn from one another. While we frequently meet on Skype and Google hangout, I am a firm believer in the powers of personal interaction.
Sourcecamp is more than just an annual meeting, it is a chance to bounce ideas off one another, and learn about unfamiliar topics. My favorite aspect of Sourcecamp is when I’m reminded of what a diverse organization Sourcefabric is - geographically, linguistically, gender, interests - This diversity serves as a test of our decision making process, a culmination of all our ideas and perspectives. We serve a lot of media organizations in difficult situations, and this is our time to brainstorm and troubleshoot in a large group of extremely talented people.
Each and every year I am completely astounded by the the large quantities of unexpectedly awesome people that I work with. From super coding geniuses to extreme marathon runners, each employee never ceases to amaze me with not only their abilities, but also their passion for the causes they care about. I suppose that’s why we hired them in the first place. So here’s to another fabulous, productive, and inspiring Sourcecamp!
