Hacks/Hackers Berlin holiday special
This week the Sourcefabric Berlin office welcomes yet another edition of Hacks/Hackers, and boy, it's going to be a festive one!
We have some very special guests! We'll be hearing presentations and chatter from:
The team over at Journalism++ will present their latest project, Detective.io - a platform that hosts your investigation and lets you mine it with powerful queries.
Sonya Song, who will share her insights into news censorship in China and her findings on the psychology of news sharing on social media. She is a 2013 Knight-Mozilla OpenNews Fellow and a 2012 Google Policy Fellow (as well as a Ph.D. candidate in Media and Information Studies at Michigan State University.)
Philip Lucsok of Bitcoin Berlin will talk about how this much-hyped and misunderstood digital currency can benefit independent journalists.
Kate McCurdy, data scientist, who will talk about her project Can I quote you on that?, which won the second-place prize at WAN-IFRA's Media Hack Day and citation in the digital age.
Jan Mechtel will present Research Toolbox Deluxe, a selection of tools for web research.
Lucy Chambers will talk about Spending Stories, an initiative to improve fiscal literacy and provide greater awareness of budget data worldwide.
