We're delighted to announce that Airtime and Resonance104.4FM won a Guardian Mega in London last night. Also know as the Guardian Awards for Digital Innovation, the Megas reward "the best technology start-ups, innovative app designers and inspirational tech gurus."

Previous winners include the BBC's iPlayer, Scraperwiki, Shutl, and Fairshare Music. Airtime won in the category best use of technology for social change.

"The power of technology can be used to overcome the social challenges of our time," said the judges on the Guardian website. "We are looking for examples of how the new digital world has been used for the greater good. Whether it has empowered citizens, changed lives in the developing world, mobilised communities or enabled transparency."

The judges were particularly impressed with how Airtime's innovative use of free technology was bringing together different radio and code communities to create a tool that really benefitted independent media all over the world.

But of course, we couldn't have done it without you. Every person who downloaded Airtime, every bug report you sent us and every line of code you contributed have made Airtime what it is today. We'd also like to specially thank Resonance104.4FM for helping us to make the application, and all the radio stations worldwide who make this a truly community-driven effort. This one is for you!
